BMD Northcliffe Surf Club has claimed the overall World Championship Title at the 2008 World Surf Life Saving Championships in Germany. Until now, the title had eluded them after wining the World Ocean Events point score at the past two World Championships but finishing runner up in the overall trophy. The 12 member team once again dominated in the ocean events but also earned some valuable points in the pool rescue events including two medals which allowed them to hold on to the overall title. The team consisting of Shannon Eckstein, Zane Holmes, Nick Crilly, Simon Harris, Beau Cummins, Dev Lahey, Elizabeth Pluimers, Kristy Harris, Courtney Hancock, Bonnie Hancock, Teniele Richards and Eloise Van-Gysen took home 8 gold, 5 silver and two bronze. The teams success followed on from our masters who snatched 8 gold, 6 silver and 1 bronze with a team of only 7 members.
