Shannon Eckstein has taken out his 9th Nutri-Grain Ironman Series in a dominant performance at North Cronulla on the weekend. Shannon took out the final two rounds to make it 5 wins from 6 starts this season, his worst performance being a 2nd place. He finished on top of the pointscore by a staggering 29 points!
Eckstein’s series loss to Surfers Paradise ironman Ali Day by 1 point last season put fire in his belly and has been at least partly responsible for his resurgence and at 32 years of age he is not ready to retire just yet.
Shannon's performance cements his title of greatest ironman in history.
In the women's series, Maddy Dunn was our highest place athlete in 5th place overall with Harriet Brown in 7th and former series champion Courtney Hancock in 9th.
